I might make some enemies by saying this, but I'm not a huge fan of Valentine's Day. (I can hear the gasps now...) It's always seemed a bit contrived and overly sentimental for my liking. Plus the fact that I teach elementary school means that I typically get about 25 perforated cards with pieces of candy taped to them. Despite this fact, I've got some cards that I adore to share with you today. I'd like to think of this post as my way of trying to make peace with February the 14th. Please join in the reconciliation process by picking your favorite.
I (really) like this card! via Happy Dappy Bits
Hand drawn warm~orange heart inspired by henna and tribal patterns via The Little Press

Plum Paper is a shop offering gorgeous stationary, calendars and personalized holiday and birth announcements. (Very affordable as well.)

This one might be my favorite...via Southern Pest Prints
This is a thank you note my friend Jeannie gave me today. She drew it all by hand. (I'm trying to convince her that she needs an Etsy shop.)
Just think, there's still time for you to order one or two of these babies before the 14th. As hard as I tried to resist them, they've won me over with their wit and sheer cuteness...I might be ordering some myself.

I am not a fan either. At all. But these cards are cute and eating chocolate is fun on any day.
ReplyDeleteI have a family member who will not participate in V-Day, he also thinks it's very contrived, a money maker. I made some cute little cards using the free images at The Graphics Fairy, and I bought some Valentine M&Ms and some Kisses ... and I ate every last one of them and am now wearing them on my hips :( But I'm all for anything that calls for red, so V-Day is okay with me. Hugs ~ Mary
ReplyDeleteTanya and Mary- I'm sensing a theme. I think the Beattles had it wrong. As we all know, "All you need is chocolate".
ReplyDeleteHmm maybe we should send our students to this link so we get some awesome cards rather than anything justin bieber related. Oh no...I can just imagine the valentines day cards now...
ReplyDeleteI agree that your friend needs and Etsy shop! Such a pretty card!
ReplyDeleteI agree on the V-day sentiment. It can get a little too cheesy, too quick.
ReplyDeleteI am a big fan though on thank you notes, and pretty stationary. These are beautiful! Oh yea, and your friend? Awesome talent.
I love Valentine's Day because it is a pretty holiday! Although I have to agree, it can be a bit cheesy. I also remember when I taught elementary school that I had to tell the kids that they must bring valentine's for everyone in the class or they couldn't participate! I didn't want anyone's feelings to get hurt!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, my favorite card is the pink "Be Mine". It has a very old fashioned look to it!
the orange heart card is so cute, but i must admit i'm not a fan of v-day either :)
