Even when I looked at him and yelled, "This is why we can NEVER buy you anything, you terrible, rotten dog!" he still didn't move. I literally had to lift his stiff little body up off the stuffing disaster. By this time a groggy Stu pops up from the covers and mutters something incomprehensible. When he sees the reason for my ranting, he paraphrases what I said but throws in an expletive or two.
This was the 4th or 5th dog bed we've bought Marty in his short three years. After a year of sleeping on a pile of towels (the only thing he doesn't chew), we felt bad for him and decided to try a bed again. Apparently his stuffin' lovin' days are not over. These beds looked awesome when we bought them...a mere eight days ago. Yeah, plush stuff lasted little more than a week in my house.
Just when his antics have me considering adoption, McFly plants on a pile of laundry and looks so stinking cute that I can't stand it...Is this what having children is like?

Lol. That's exactly like having a child! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd such is life! Don't worry, my house looks like that durning most days!
ReplyDeleteMy dog is 6 years old and still eating his bed!
ReplyDeleteOh Marty! I don't have kids yet, just a furry crew of maniacs, so I understand this all too well.
ReplyDeleteI fear that if we tell you what it's like to have children, you'd never have any. Ever. But check out this link that I got yesterday about upcyled dog beds. Your dog is adorable! http://www.mnn.com/family/pets/photos/10-enviable-upcycled-pet-beds/recycled-sail-bed
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable dog!
ReplyDeleteLOL, maybe, just maybe Marty is trying to tell you NOT to waste money on such things when he LOVES the towels. We had a German Sheperd that loved tennis balls, chew 3 or 4 of the up in a day....he woudn't touch anything else...so tennis balls we bought, by the bags full.
ReplyDeletelol oh sorry I just had to giggle. The same is with my parents' dog and toys. I never buy him a stuffed toy anymore because they only last a maximum of 3 minutes!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to stay mad at them when they're so cute eh? Same goes for my cat Lucy. I'll scold her for doing something nasty like attacking our feet, then giggle when she flops over like an otter. They know how to get us those darn adorable pets
So stinking cute--haha. I had to chuckle a little too. I can just see him going crazy and tearing that thing up. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, at least you guys can relate. Secretly I know kids will be much more... uh...intense than dogs, both good and bad, right?
ReplyDelete@thriftylass-great link! i loved the cat on a suitcase bed.
I'm typing this as my little monster is drooling on my feet while happily gnawing a chew toy. guess i have to keep him...for now.
I'm convinced that the filling they put in most dogs beds and toys has some intriguing animal smell that drives dogs crazy. My dogs have torn up several beds. I was really happy to discover the Molly Mutt dog duvet. They offer lots of nice covers that you can stuff with towels and blankets.
ReplyDeleteMake him a bed out of old towels stuffed with rag strips made from old t-shirts. Problem solved.
ReplyDeleteHe's lucky he is so cute!
ReplyDeleteOk really? Your post's always relate to something that is currently going on in my life. You have a dog and I have two boys. A bit different but very much the same! lol My sweet boys terrorize and destroy several things in my home at least a few times a week. They are boys, they are young and they are crazy. After the needed discipline they always win me over with a sweet innocent look similar to your cute Mcfly's. So yes it is very similar to having children only you have a little more patience with your kids ;)
ReplyDeleteThat adorable face! Dachshunds are the best (even when they destroy stuff), right? Mine have an appetite for milk jugs. So weird...
ReplyDeleteOkay, he is totally adorable and it's obvious that he will get away with this - just look at his face! What worked with my parents' dog (who is a bed-eater, too) is a bed made of fleece and an old mohair wool blanket - somehow he didn't like eating that ;-) I'm lucky, my dog Coca is the sweetest pup ever and only chews on her play socks.
